Audio over IP with dedicated card

Post by drmacchi »

Hi all, on next May, i will have some cards like this to implement my home audio system over lan cables. the system consist of minimum 2 cards connected with cat5 cable (one transmitter , one/many receiver). transmitter gets audio from a source like : a pc , mp3 player.......
i was thinking about HS server sending some audio files on certain conditions , or else.

I think that this card could solve many situations : ready to use , simple connections, usable over ip and internet too. a blockbuster for our audio needs ?

I also have a small audio company.

This is very useable for me!!!!
This is the first unit that i see that does a AD/DA conversion and uses TCP/IP

(i also am a network engineer with the Department of Defense, so i am glad to be able to combine audio and networking)

I have bought 2 boards : they are the same and you can set (client/server) with a jumper onboard.
CLIENT (yes it seems a mistake, but this is the name given by producer) SENDS AUDIO
SERVER RECEIVES AUDIO
client and server can be on same lan , or connected by tcp everywhere, even with dyndns service !
my setup consist of :
+2 boards ,
+a router (same lan),
+an audio source (connected to client board) that is a old notebook with windows millenium (!) running a mp3 on usb stick. why such old pc ? becuase my ultra-mega super power notebook has only SPDIF audio out.......... and i can not test a mono audio signal with that.
+a speaker set connected to server board, only one speaker will work because i made a mono connection , just to test.

BOARDS : you explore them with a DISCOVERER TOOL

you set using a browser : menu is very complete ! : authentication (set password...) , local network , remote network, dyndns, plugin upload etc.
plugin : what is that , should be eproom files with various settings of audio , i have 3 of them , but didn't upload anything new because with the preset works vey good :)

How good is audio quality ? GOOD ! i did a movie but what you'll hear is not that good , like i hear because my handycam is a cheap one ! and settings was MONO not stereo
Later i will post YOUTUBE VIDEO

PLUGIN TYPES (alias eproom)

venc16k2q05.bin: versione stereo con frequenza di campionamento a 16 kHz
- venc44k1q05.bin: versione mono con frequenza di campionamento a 44 kHz
- venc44k2q05.bin: versione stereo con frequenza di campionamento a 44 kHz

The first is for general purpose , the third is for the best audio quality.
cheers,
Lorenzo
