New RFXtrx433E USB transciever

Post by Bwired »

As of today the new version of the RFXtrx433, the E version will be available.
the RFXtrx433E also support the SOMFY RTS protocol for transmatting.
The old version will also be supported by RFXcom with new firmwares, the firmware updates will work on both RFXcom versions

Check it out on:
http://www.rfxcom.com/store/Transceivers/14103

Today also a new firmware is released

RFXcom added the TH12 Opus TX300 / Imagintronix soil sensor to the latest firmware versions.
This is an affordable soil sensor. It has only 3 channels and no other ID so a maximum of 3 sensors can be used.
The range of this sensor is limited.

Check the sensor here:

This puzzles me a bit. I would like to interpret this like the previous/regular RFXtrx433 will also support the Somfy protocol through future firmware updates?

Firmware updates become available for the RFXtrx433 as before.
For example the update for the soil sensor is available for the RFXrec433, RFXtrx433 and RFXtrx433E.

I've bought three soul sensors because I thought I could use thema with my RfxLan. But hs3 doesnt see them. Could it be only the usb-version supports thema? If so: will you update the RFXlan as well.

I notice rfxcom usb starts to support more hardware then the land version. Will rfxcom keep supporting the lan version or is it heading to end of life?

With other RFXCOM hardware dating from 2007 (as in my case), this new RFXtrx433E is a huge improvement! :)
Especially processing all the RF packets is much easier now. OK, this is no News for most of you, but...
Today I paired my RFXTRX433E with my 12 Somfy roller shutters, so I can use it to control them without using the Somfy RTS485 transmitter:

I bought the Imagintronix soil sensor and have it connected to domoticz, but it gives me 99% humidity in a bucket of dry sand... doesn't seem right.. anyone else tried it?

Same for me here staying on 99% after a few hours.

In the beginning it was looking good when showing around 81%

are you sure domoticz is supporting those sensors ?

i bought 2 of them, one for the garden, and one for inside.. and both working fine for over 2 weeks now

else start latest rfxmgr and see if they display the correct value, also make sure your rfxtrx is running on latest firmware.

The separate sensors are no longer available and will only available after more than 3 months. If someone has some extra left, please let me know.
The only way now to get the sensors seems to order the full set: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11030.m4 ... AUS%3A1123
Advantage is that you can check if your sensors is working ok and if your Domotica system is at fault.

Hello,

Here, they also run without problems.
you need to put the sensor to the line in the earth or he gives 99%
I had that while the earth was dry.

For anyone interested.. I ordered a couple and the maximum you can use with the rfxcom is 3 sensors (they all have the same ID). I put the one I have left on marktplaats for anyone who is interested.
They work pretty well, but the outdoor one can give odd readings at times.. the indoor one works great.. (put the info from one of the plants here: http://icepick.com/joomla/index.php/plants )

@ Bert,

If I'm going My RFXcom to upgrade to an E version.
Should Domoticz my database teach all over again.
Or does the E use the same data of the current RFXcom?

Is there more memory in the E? [ For the future? ]
Is the antenna connector the same?
Or comes after the E a redesigned larger new version?

I am with the E version, a few years future proof.??

Dylantje,

The commands are the same for all RFXtrx.
The E version has only an additional option to use Somfy RTS.
