rfxcom usb freeze

Postby dimach » Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:53 pm

Hi,
I have USB rfxcom with two receivers. Receiver with id 0 is X10 USA and receiver with id 1 is for Oregon Scientific.
The problem I have is that the receiver stops receiving signals after approximately 15 hours(can be more, can be less).
After I restart application, it works again.
I've tried latest heyu and my own php based application with the same results.
My app works in variable length mode. I assume the same is true for heyu.

Any suggestions? May be there is better firmware available?

Thanks,
Dmitri.

Is the receiver directly connected to the PC or on an USB hub?

I have seen this problem before with the receiver connected to a hub. When connected directly to the PC port it ran OK.

Do you have another system to connect the receiver to and run RFreceiver to see if it works OK for a long time?

It is not expected that a receiver firmware update solves disconnect problems. It is more likely that the USB hardware in the interface or the driver is not OK.
Go to http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm and check if you have the latest VCP driver version installed.

It is connected using hub. I'm using Debian Linux and the serial adapter is recognized by the kernel.

Unfortunately the system is 6000 km from me at the moment and I won't be able to reconnect it to direct port now.

I'll post once I try to connect it directly to USB port.

Thanks!

The receiver was connected directly to USB port and it works fine for the last 28 hours.

Thanks!
