Password manager + web

Post by Snelvuur »

Hi,

Well i want a dekstop client that can store all my passwords / usernames for websites and all other crap, BUT i want it to be able to sync with a mysql database so i can also have a web version for when i'am not around my pc.

Somehow i cant seem to find one, perhaps any of you have found one in the past? So a windows desktop client, with a web gui (that should be on linux if thats possible)

Password manager + web

Hi FastFire,

I have always used the tool called "obliette" this is an opensource project wich is written in Delphi 6. It's maintained on the SourceForge site. AFAIK i doesn't have a sync function to a mySQL database, but maybe with some small developing enhancements you can make it by yourself ;).
IIRC it has also a couple of 'exporting' features in it, maybe you can do something with this. The tool looks a bit outdated but for me it does it's job very well.

While reading you post, i understant that you want to make the passwords available for you through the web via some of you own pages? ifso.. i hope you have some 'strong' protection/encryption for it. The tool above it's core thing is 'encrypt and encode data (password info)' so you passwords are "as safe as the weakest link". (in my opinion)

And last but not least the link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/oubliette/

My 2 Cents

Well there are alot of tools for it "keepass" or password keeper or similar are nice too. But they dont support a web front end. I dont wurry about that much for encryption, since i would use https with expiring cookies/password and no caching. Dont forget, every tool you have ********** for your password can be easily read by a simple piece of software since those value's are set in the computer as asci. For one, if you have firefox or IE to save your password, all those are comprimised from the start if you look at it like that.

And overal, i'am not always behind my desk. And internet is usually not so far away (phone i.e.) and most accounts i need it for are internet accounts anyway :)
