FritzBox 7270 Firmware 54.04.76

Post by mo046 »

last official firmware (with the DECT problems) took them more than half a year to update the international version after the german one had been released. The helpdesk explained that the versions differ so much that they need more time to verify the software before release.

I wonder what they have been doing all this time. They obviously didn't find the DECT problems, or they don't care.

BTW, does the german firmware have the same issues with DECT? I think the Siemens Gigaset is the best selling DECT phones in Germany, at least one may expect they should be well supported by AVM. Especially while the Fritz!boxes are mainly sold in Germany.

Well:
German: FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 Firmware Version 54/74.04.76 vom 25.06.2009
International: FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 Firmware Version 54.04.76 Sep 15, 2009

So, about 3 months, still a too long time, but not half a year. The current about to be released beta version hs rissen quite a bit in version, hope it goes for my handset as well :)

Actually there has been an intermediate German firmware release xx.04.70 that was never released in an international version. The previous international version was xx.04.67, that was released somewhere end of 2008. I think it is fair to say that the update interval of the international version is much longer than the german one, and german users will benefit from updates, bugfixes and test versions ("Labor") much sooner.

I never said that AVM was quick ;) But for the latest firmware it was 3 months...
I'm hoping they'll do the same as with the last release where I updated to the IPv6 version, that was sooner than release of .76....

@Tane: You're using a FB7270 with cable internet from ziggo, right?
What are speeds the FB7270 is routing at? Can it do 50/5? Or is it less?

FritzBox 7270 Firmware 54.04.76

Post by bigted »

Hi Guys,

Quick question - I've got a Fritz!Box 7270 running 54.04.76, and I'm looking for some good handsets to go with it. My wife really wants the ability to control the answering machine from the phone menus rather than via the short codes, and I was wondering if the Gigaset phoes integrated with this.

I've seen some comments suggesting that they used to do this, but no longer?

Any information would be gratefully received ...

I am using the C47H and it provides access to the voicemails. However, it is not via the envelope key on the phone, but you have to press 'int' twice. You will be presented with a Fritzbox menu, which is in German!!!, and from that menu you can select to listen to the voicemails.

Still you have to go through an english(!) voice response system to listen to the messages, or delete them. That can't be done by menu (neither in the old firmware nor in the latest).
