There has been substantial work done on the USB serial code in the latest Linux kernel release 2.6.31. At this moment the FTDI drivers aren't working properly though it's intended that they will be fixed very soon.
If you use FTDI USB serial chips then don't change your kernel quite yet.

I'm currently using Ubuntu with kernel 2.6.32-25-generic. It seems to correctly recognize my FHZ1000 pc.
Any known issues I should be aware of that might not work?

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!
