usb to serial

we all know the seral to usb converters.

but how about usb to serial converters.

i have big trouble connecting remote usb devices as zwave eon stick and plugwise stick over the internet. these sticks are in origin serial to usb , i want to try to put them in a serial port hub , sold by bwired and see if that works over the internet.

does anyone has experiance with usb to serial.

I don't think such a thing exists. Reason is that you go from a high speed bandwidth to a lower speed bandwidth.
What you could try is to solder some wires in your Plugwise stick/z-wave stick just before the serial to usb converter chip. This does require some solder skills though.

Why not USB over IP solutions? More of those on the market...

- Belkin Wireless USBhub (I have a brand new one for sale)
- Digi device, such as the AnywhereUSB

Do not buy the Belkin USB Hub. It does not support recent versions of Windows. I was able to get it working using SX VirtualLink (a manufacturer using the same device with a different label), but this is far from stable.

I received the Digi AnywhereUSB yesterday and it much better and supports up to Windows Server 2008.
