receive oregon sensors

Yesterday I received some temperature sensors from Oregon. On my desk which is close to my USB-RFXCOM device reception is fine, but if I move it away a few meters (e.g. to another room) I fail to receive anything. This is not isolated to a single sensor.

I was planning to install sensors in and around the house, but loosing connectivity on the same floor doesn't give the feeling this is going to work.

Oh, BTW visonic works fine ...

what is the receiver firmware version?
An update to version 28 will probably solve the problem.

It's very old, I think you did an upgrade more then a year ago.

Upgrade has been done (thanks), but I see no improvement with respect to distance. Still loosing reception when I move the OS sensor to the next room. (about 3 meters) There is a wall in between (plaster wall). So I guess there must be interference of some sort which blocks reception of the OS devices. Anyone has any smart ideas ideas to find the source ?

did you try another type of OS sensor?
Or are they all the same model?

Do you have a 433.92MHz transmitter active. For example a wireless headset.
If you can't find the transmitter source you need a spectrum analyzer or 70cm AM receiver to find the xmitter.

What kind of antenna do you use?
I have the same setting and like 10+ oregon sensors in all parts of my house and no problems.

The antenna is just a wire of the right length, I'm not using the GP.

OK I'm using the GP, but even with the wire antenna receiving from a sensor in the next room should not be a problem at all!
I have a setup with a lot of and all kinds of sensors on different frequencies like 310, 433, 868 2.4. Even a Zigbee network with 20 transmitters and no problem.
So perhaps you should drill for oil :-)

Did you try all parts of your house?

I'm still not sure what is causing the problem, but I can now receive my 4 OS sensors. Two are on the same floor as my RFXCOM rx, one is a floor higher and the last one is one floor below. Two things I did; 1) changed all OS sensors to channel 2, although this shouldn't impact the power (I guess it simply changes a bit in the datastream only) 2) I relocated the RFXCOM rx about a meter.

I guess I would need a receiver with a signal strength indicator and map out the house to find the ideal place for my receiver. Also I have to mention that my house has reinforced concrete walls, and the normal WLAN also has deadspots.
