Re: Toon firmware - update script

I have a never used Toon (from 2017) running software version 3.2.18. So the Toon has never been activated.

I was able to root it with the rooting script and I have SSH access.

I guess the next step is to update the firmware with the update script, but what is the right order?
Can I update to the latest version straight away or should I upgrade it with steps? And if so which steps should I take?

Thanks in advance!

Use the update script to update to 5.0.6, run fixed, reboot, update to 5.28.9, run fixed and reboot

And in fact, the script won't let you update past 5.0.6 first. So just use the script and it will fix it for you.

Brilliant and it worked without a problem.
Thank you very much!

I tried to update from 5.22.14 tot 5.28.9 but Toon dont want to. I tried on the toon and with the update script with -f.
The script runs and update all the programs but not the firmware. also after reboot firmware isnt updated. is there another way?

What model Toon? Did you check the upgrade logs?

Try it with -v (ex: sh update-rooted.sh -v 5.28.9)
-f only fix files

I updated my Toon some days ago, used the approach mentioned some posts back as I was running a quite old version (upgrading in two steps)

All went well and enjoy the overall speed increase.
I noticed during upgrade cerain old apps were auto updated, great!

Today, 2 days after upgrade I noticed buienradar showed 11celsius..... it was more like 22 so I thought app frozen.
Removed it from toonstore to reinstall, it did indeed remove buienradar but after reboot the toonstore is completely blank.

Any suggestions what I should do now?

Greets,
Frans

Thanks for the tip, I found I had poor troubleshooting skills.....
Could not ssh in, checked wifi connection on toon, it was discoonected.
Could not connect to the ssid I always used for the toon and rpi, nas etc. it did connect to my regular ssid.

Problem solved!

Empty ToonStore usually means a hiccup in the internet connection. The source of the ToonStore is on GitHub which has like 99.999% uptime.
Can you reboot the Toon and try again?

Is it advisable to revert to an older firmware version? I while ago I upgraded (not sure what version) but the load on the Toon is too heavy and it is almost constantly rebooting.
I deleted almost every app, only afvalwijzer, calendar and wifiqr are installed.
For now I changed the domoticz script to get toon data every 15 minutes to be able to use the toon.
