Xanura plug-in modules?
Hi,
I used Marmitek X10 modules (both plug-in and build-in) in the past but it never worked reliable. Since I replaced all build-in modules with Xanura modules all my problems are gone. However, I still haven't found a good replacement for the plug-in modules.
As far as I know Xanura doesn't have any plug-in modules. Are there any alternatives? I have a few KaKu modules (in combination with a RFXCOM) but I have a problem with the range. I really like to continue on the A10 protocol...
Thanks in advance.

Install the Xanura modules inside a connector case article 522880 of www.conrad.nl .. be aware when unplugging the case and touching the both metal poles you will get a minor shock.
You may even drill a small hole in the case so you can program the module.

Smart thinking, I might do that.
Did you try this yourself? Any tips?

Thats a good idea...only problem they look so big and ugly.
What you also can use is the TM13.
Just remove the antenna and you will have a two way plug.

But IIRC with TM13 you can only use addresses A1, B1, C1, etc...

Yes, I made several plugin Xanura modules using this kind of plug-thru case . Compared with the Marmitek modules it is a little bigger.
You may have a look at different case models ... like using a case only with a plug and using an electrical cord going direct to the appliance.

Xanura plug-in modules?
In the beginning, plugin modules where available in the program. They where white & slim, same housing as the Xanura plugin filter. The housing is NOT sold separately.
My simple solution:
Buy some cheap kika (?) modules @ fav diy shop. Sometimes they are on Sale, remove hardware, xanura modules will fit. I got some on sale @ praxis.
Conrad housing, butt ugly (imho)

Plugin unit used for builing my own plug-in modules Elro AB601, removed the hardware some little diy tweaking (removing hardware support stuff and glued orignal led and switch on the back)

What happens if you put the plug in the wall outlet upside down? The Xanura have very clear fase and null inputs, can the be switched without problems?
Xanura plug-in modules?
It will work if the wires (fase - null) are switched ... only problem you may have 230V power on the switching wires of the actor so be aware of isolation.

Thanks. I was planning to add a small switch on the plug-in module so I could operate the plug-in module locally (and at the same time I could use that for programming). Would that be a problem when null and fase are switched?

As a test I used an old X10 AM12 module, removed everything inside and a SAIX12 fitted perfectly. Drilled a small hole to access the PROG button and voila it worked. I just needed to glue the house- and devicecode switch to the case otherwise I had two round holes in there.
Haven't tried to add a small switch (see previous post) because there was not enough space. But I ordered a few cases from conrad as there is more room to add the switch as well. Still don't know if that will work when fase and null are switched...

It will work, with a DIY plugin module you don't use the switching wires I use 'krimpkous' to isolate these wires.

To the left the rare Xanura plugins, to the right diy plugins based on Elro hardware with Xanura modules.

Ok, here is my creation. I added a switch for manual operation and also easy programming (no need to open the case to press the PROG button).
