Hi,
Recently, 1 of my Orgegon Scientific Temp/Hygro sensors stopped working.
The red LED was still flashing every 40 seconds or so, but nothing was received (RFXCOM receiver). Since the other 2 sensors i have were still ok, it had to be the sensor that was malfunctioning.
I had to remove and put back the (same) batteries before i managed to get it working again. Anyone else ever experienced this?
Regards,
Digit.

Did you try the RFreceiver program to see if the sensor is dead or just has got another address?
BTW: The right way to determine from which sensor you receive the data is to use the channel number (and optional the sensor type). It is still not sure to me if the address field is useable.

Hi Bert,
No, i didn't use the RFreceiver program. The software i use evaluates everything the RFXCOM receiver is receiving, it checks on valid (=known) device types and addresses and puts everything it doesn't recognize as valid data in a separate table, so i would have noticed receiving data that could not be validated. The sensor just didn't transmit...
BTW, i do use the address field for identification purposes. Works for me. Using the channel number as id would mean a limit of max 3 devices of the same sensor type concurrently in use, right?
Robert.

I use the address field as well for all my Oregon Scientific devices without any problems. Last I had to change the batteries of my sensor. After replacing the batteries the sensor was still on the same address.

A little update:
The same thing happened again yesterday. Same device, same problem: LED still flashing, but nothing is received.
And again, solved after removing the batteries.
Still don't know why.

I have 8 sensors running now, never had that problem. Only when the battery starts getting to empty!
Perhaps you a small crack in the circuit board?

Yeah,
maybe next time i'll take a look inside. For now, it's working again.
