Wanted: basic IP video observation set

Dear domotica friends,

I'm looking for a lowcost basic IP-observation video set.
I want to use a few basic Axis IP CAM's (with audio)
and some basic PC-hardware.
So the main interest is for the software.
A Win solution is OK, but Linux is fine also.
My user requirement:
- support for 1-4 IP-cam's
- life view & listen
- Push-To-Talk button for talking back
- easy to use
- limited PC hardware performance (old-PC should be OK)
And nice to have but not a requirement:
- logging
- web interface
And....I don't want to pay much because I'm dutch.

Looking forward for your suggestions...

4 IP Cams need some power to run without pauses in live video. Even recording needs power. I use a good software that manages 2 ip cam with pan & tilt and recording with a centrino 1.5GHz , 512 mb ram winXP. 25 USD and 15 days to try.

Listen Audio, yes . Push to talk i dont' think. Then your cams should have hardware feature to "push to talk"

Have a look at Zoneminder (http://www.zoneminder.com), it's open source and runs on Linux.

For most solutions I'm afraid it's gonna cost ya a fair amount for what you want to do. <s>The basic Axis cameras only have one-way sound (from cam to user) as far as I know. Unless you consider e.g. the 210A (500/600eur x4) and the likes 'basic' as well.</s>

<s>If you want to pay as little as possible, Using analog cameras with an one quad Axis Encoder (e.g. AXIS 241QA, 800/900eur) might be a cheaper option But if you want to be able to talk separately to every camera, that won't work as the encoder only supports one mic-in and one line-out. Also you'll need to wire the audio separately. Simply using a non audio encoder and a soundcard might be an option as well.</s>

Does anyone uses this with Homeseer Pro 2.5 ?
I have 3 IPcams AVTECH AVI202 and they can´t be used directly in Homeseer.

Hi, i have a license of that sw. I have used it , but you must have a dedicated server for that. It creates a web page that can be shared with Homeseer. The problem is : a lot of CPU and RAM to use for that, if you want live , full frame video. If you, only, need some snapshots, that's not a big problem.
Don't you think it's better a "movement detection" from cams, i use some PT cheap China cams that have this feature, they take snapshot and send via mail or ftp.
then homeseer can even , with "an event" move the cam towards where you need, using some MS13 detectors, and take more screenshots of the "bad people"
