I'm going to the USA for a few days and wanted to know whether the US IP camera's can be used in Europe. Should I go for power over ethernet or can I use any powered camera?

Problem in the USA is find the shop where you can buy a good Ip camare for a good price.
Look for Best buy / Tiger direct.
For POE you will also need POE switch.

Amongst colleagues this is a very popular shop (in New York):

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

When you want to check you should be very fast as this is a shop run by jews and they don't work at saturday (even webshop is closed).

Direct link to ip cams:

US cams should work fine as long as you check the voltages. You might have to replace the power adapter with a European one.

YOu don't need to have a POE switch to use POE. There some little adapters to created POE not on the complete network. But only by the devices with need one.

I think you can buy those for 10 -15 euro's

We used them alot within a callcenter infrasturcture , where the building has to old wired cables to used POE.

Best regards,
Marco

When you buy an American camera, be sure you can put it to 50 Hz and not only 60 Hz, 60 Hz will give you a flickering screen with the lights on.
