I'm using the Serial module for a couple of weeks now, to control the PTZ on one of my Sony EVI D30 cameras. I've had no problems yet; it even works better than before.

Yeah, I would love to see support for ZigBee! With that we could use ZigBee devices and control them using HS2

Any chance of getting ZigBee support in the RFXCom products anytime soon?

Hi Bert, others,

I have a question regarding the optional serial interface on the Ethernet RFXCOM device. Can it be used to attach a CTX35 to? So the PC connects through Ethernet to the RFXCOM device, and through that to the CTX35. Reason I am asking is that I am having problems with the CTX35 on my server's serial port, even though it works fine on my laptop, so now I suspect the COM port on the server is malfunctioning.
If this is possible, then how would the PC be able to contact the CTX35? Would it work with the standard drivers? I'm mostly interested in the linux xPL driver...

Thanks, Pieter-Paul

Yes, the Serial Interface can be used to connect a CTX35.

The Serial Interface needs a dedicated port. So with a receiver installed you need the 2 COM port version.
Configure the line speed on the channel correct for the CTX35.

You can use the COM Port Redirector software to create the COM port. This port will be seen by all applications as a normal COM port.

Does this also work with Linux on the PC? I'm most likely going to be using xPL-perl (as I haven't found other SW that supports the CTX35 yet).

ctx35 is not fully supported under xpl-perl though. it has basic functions, but needs more work aswell. Since the author doesn't have a ctx35 this is very hard to do.

I dont know if this can also work under linux, have not tried it.
