Turning energy saving bulbs on and off ?
I guess technicaly you can use energy efficient bulbs, but as carlo says, it takes some time for these bulbs before they give 100% of their light.

It may save you money in the long run, if you are able to identify where you are spending alot of money (elec/gas/water).
For example, after i setup our water monitoring, i discovered that one of my kids was consuming 250 liters of water to take a single shower. :/

kwh calculation
Guys, I have a braindead moment so bare with me.
My kwh meter provides me 1000 pulses/kwh.
If i receive 15 pulses in 30 seconds, whats the current power usage in Watts ?

Eric

Din Rail
Hi,
if you want to measure total power consumption, then your best option is to buy a din rail kwh meter (starting from 20).

Hi all,
does anyone know if the site in topic is reliable?
I sent them an email about 2 weeks ago, yet no answer.
I'm interested in http://www.kwhmeter.nl/N_art_14.html which has a very attractive price (39.95).
Does anyone have a better site/address?

Gas monitoring Bwired
I have it working guys. 1st, I removed one of the 560 ohm resistors, and increased the distance between the sensor and the gasmeter. 2nd, the fake pulses turned out to be noise on the powerline. Need to find a way to solve that damn noise. Would a UPS help ? Thanks for the suggestions though. Greeti...

ddgiel,
got any price indication and/or addresses where they can be bought? (i'm located between Sint-Niklaas and Mechelen)
This sensor just provides a NO contact?
To what are they connected to at your place?

Gas monitoring Bwired
I tried increasing the distance between sensor and digits, to no avail. Also the potmeter is adjusted. Looking at the CNY70 datasheet/application note, the optimal current for the transmitter is between 20-40 mA, though with the 2 resistors of 560 ohm (1120 ohm as they are in series), we only get 4 ...

Hi,
i build this too to measure my gas consumption, though i have a problem.
When the meter is moving very slowly, the sensor seems to react also on the digits (or the change in black/white).
Any idea how i can solve that?

Eric
