Re: Looking for beta testers to test HouseAgent

Seems to be really good start. Do you plan KNX integration?

Re: ipv6/ipv4 light bulbs?

So at least when IPv4 doomsday finally descends someone will have their lighting just right. As these devices are meant to be used inside a private network, IPv4 doomsday will never arrive for them. However I'm a fan of 6loWPAN and IPv6 addressing at all, as it provides some "native" rout...

Re: openHAB - a new promising domotics software

Heel leuk idee, lijkt ook heel veel op het idee waar ik al een tijd mee bezig ben. multiplatform, OSGi, jetty, java zeker iets om in de gaten te houden! LONG LIVE GOOGLE TRANSLATE: ;) Very nice idea, looks very much like the idea I'm working on for some time. multiplatform, OSGi, jetty, java defini...

openHAB - a new promising domotics software

Hi, guys. I just want to give you some light on a new exciting, open source and fast-evolving domotics project called openHAB. It's written in Java (OSGi) and supports the following technologies: - KNX - one-wire - HTTP - Serial - Bluetooth - NTP - MPD support (Music Player Daemon) - Google Calendar...

Re: 6lowPAN modules for HA

Hi, guys, I haven't been here a while, despite I have started this topic several months ago. Codeblack, take a look at Contiki and tinyOS. They support some really cheap MCUs with integrated 802.15.4 radio. You don't need the pricey Netduino Plus or even Arduino. And you don't have to reinvent the w...

Re: My home automation project / software

Hi Airox, I haven't been here a while and was curious what new have you done with your software. And I have to say I'm really impressed... again :-) Just still wondering why you keep it just for you, but that's your decision. I use DHT22 in my Arduino based 5 zone thermostat . These are little, nice...

Re: KNX object interaction

Thank you. I found what I'm looking for, but in the German documentation. The English documentation is very poor.
It seems it could be done. There are two 1 bit objects per channel that block the channel if set.

Re: KNX object interaction

Thdnk you for the reply. The modules I speak about are actuator modules from MDT. Here is their shutter/shade module - http://www.mdtautomation.de/Jalousieaktoren.html All their modules have BLOCK function per every channel. Unfortunetly the MDT documentation is very poor and there's nothing about t...

Re: My home automation project / software

Nice! I like the way how this software evolves. However all we can see are some beautiful pictures on a interface in some scandinavian language. What are your plans for releasing it? If you only do it for yourself why you post here your progress? If your plans are open-sourcing it, please make yours...

Re: rs485 and rs242 and serial

What Willem4ever says is absolutely right. However the limit of ~32 devices and the bus length could be extended by repeaters. The bus length depends on the cabling quality. CAT-5 cable is a good and cheap option. No, you can't connect directly RS-485 to RS-232 (the serial port of your computer). It...

KNX object interaction

I'm new to KNX and I'm going to order my first KNX devices in the next few days. I have downloaded ETS4 Demo and played with the configuration of the devices I want to buy. However there isn't much free information about KNX out there (especially in English) and I have some questions that I can't fi...

Re: Cheap KNX devices

Thank you, Kris. However I bought one Arduino UNO, Ethernet Shield and 7 DHT22 sensors and I will make temperature and humidity measurement on 7 points in my apartment for less than 130€, and talking to me via TCP/IP. However I still search for cheaper KNX stuff, especially dimmers. So far the best ...

Re: Cheap KNX devices

Yes, my mistake. Thank you, Digit.

Anyways, there's an Arduino library for reading it, so it stays an option as I have some Arduino experience.
