Re: Linux/CUPS script for turning on printer
Do you happen to know if HP printers do anything special when you flick the switch on the printer itself? When i turn it off using the switch it seems to do 'something'. It makes some noise before it actually goes off. So I'm wondering if it might be a bad idea to turn it off by cutting power. I hav...

Re: How to turn off PC's when leaving the house with Xanura/X10?
If i'm not mistaken you can perform a remote shutdown on any Windows machine (Maybe not Home or Basic editions, but certainly Pro versions). See the 'shutdown' help: Start > Run > cmd [enter} shutdown /h Should be something like shutdown /m \\computername /s Also see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb...

Re: ZAX12 problem with relais
Not sure about the ZAX12, but the SAIX12 has a feature to turn itself on upon connecting load. This can be setup using the 'Hail request' and 'Hail Acknowledge' setup commands. So there must be some small current to detect if a load is connected to the device. Perhaps the current is high enough to s...

mm, thats odd. I have a modulating boiler since a year now and haven't noticed any chances really. But if you're going to use a simple relay thermostat.. why use a thermostat at all? Why not use a simple Oregon (or 1-wire) temperature sensor and control a relay connected to your HVAC using the infor...

Proliphix NT20e IP Thermostat
If I read your post correctly it uses simple (old) on/off relay to control the boiler. With today's modulating boilers this is a steep step back. modulating boilers are more energy efficient then on/off boilers. Besides that it also prolongs the lifetime expectancy of the burner. Also, it doesnt hav...

How do you trigger your light?
There is another option if you're using HomeSeer (or any other device that has sunrise/sunset times) Another option is to trigger another housecode and use an HS event. For example, your light is on A1. You set the MS13 to P1. In HS you create an event that will turn on A1 if it receives P1-ON AND i...

Calibration value not used?
I seemed to be having some weird issues that are now resolved. The problem was that my "current" values (Current Power Consumption and Current Gas Consumption) didn't update at all. Altering the calibration value didn't change anything in the 'total power consumption' either. This all solv...

Multiple Oregon sensors and channel selection
I am having problems with my THGR810 sensors. I have 4 of these baby's and today I noticed that 2 of them seem to be 'gone' in RFXCOM. No reception for 3 hours. According to the sticky post its probably because their on the same channel: "The THGR810 is a 10 channel sensor and you can use 10 of...

cost effective
I think it is save to say that as soon as you start to buy stuff in order to save electricity you wont benefit from it money-wise. For example, I have 19 Plugwise plugs. That is something like EUR 900,-. Simple X10 in-wall modules to turn off lights costs alot more then I'll be able to profit from. ...

The 'partlist' on your website does not list the 'condensator' and transistor that are soldered on the PCB. Can you tell me what they do and how they are wired?

Linux/CUPS script for turning on printer
I created a little script that checks my CUPS printer spool for jobs that are queued. If a job is queued my printer is probably off and I use HomeSeer to turn it on. Can be modified to use Plugwise Source webserver just as easy. My printer is connected to a Plugwise plug, but this should work for an...

Broken modules X10 modules?
You were right, but its still weird that using an extension cord instead of the 'in house wiring' solved it too. The extension cord is longer then the fixed wiring and was plugged in in the same socket that also houses the connection that runs to the room with the problem modules. But I must agree t...

Calibration value not used?
Ah. Thanks. I've also found the Virtual Devices. So I've now added 'Instant Power Usage'. This device only updates once every few hours. Can this be set to update, lets say, every minute?
