Home Automation in 1950
My neighbor gave me a beat up magazine with that very article in it about ten years ago. I love it. I have it somewhere around here.

Saving printing power linux X10

My Linux setup is using CUPS as it's printer daemon and I'm using heyu with a CM11A to turn the printer on/off. I created two scripts, the first x10backend.pl ( http://www.linuxha.com/common/x10back...

I'm going to put in an Elk M1 and I'll have a keypad that you can hit the button to do just that (not it's sole purpose though).

When I'm out cycling I'm not so sure I want all my technology following me. I like my cycling computer (with cadence). I use that all the time. I also use the distance as the riders I lead get very upset when my rides turn into 200k's. [:D] My friend wants me to get a GPS but I don't need a device t...

Thanks for buying the book, wish I could give it away free (Bruce Peren has explained to me how I could have done that after I wrote the book, c'est la vie!). The next one may go that way but thatdepends on whether Wiley wants to publish the next or not. It's part of the contract I signed. My apolog...

what SHOULDN'T be automated?
Hi Rob, there are a lot of little things that probably should not be automated like portable space heaters, electric blankets or my wife's - err never mind! ;-) I don't know about in Europe but in the US (where I'm from) a gas fire place is something I'd be very careful about automating (at least at...

I also need to do some work on the 1-wire interfaces as I have about 25 temp. sensors I need to install (to monitor my electric baseboard hea...
