Ethernet NetworkDesign

Hi All, I'm currently setting up my new infrastructure for Ethernet. I have separated my guest WiFi from my normal subnet, now im left with the decision for my domotics network. Option 1 is to include in my normal subnet Option 2 is to create a seperate subnet and create static routes in my gateway ...

Which controller

Hi all, I have been looking at Z-Wave for a while, but I'm looking for some community input which controller to pick. Fibaro HC seems to be the most extensive one, but also the one that has a lot of bad reviews with poor device support? Vera Lite, I have not seen my users but it seems to be adequate...

Re: My Smartmeter Install

I think this is basically OK, I was thinking about a single optocoupler on the RX line (also to invert), and using a second optocoupler on a output pin to trigger the request line.

Re: My Smartmeter Install

Hi Willem,

Looking good, i have been looking at this to do this perhaps with a netduino. Do you also have (want to) publish your schematic, as I''ve read about different voltages to the P1, either 3.3VDC or 5VDC.

Re: What am I missing???

it can be easier. you need 1 main thermostat to control the boiler on off. each room a thermostat (pi) controller to control the valves. if any of valves need flow (heat) turn on main thermostat. no need to keep track which one requires. alo wifi will be too expensive, a rf12 or c1100 will do the jo...

Re: What am I missing???

a wifi chip will be more expensive, you will also need a controller, valve actuator, prototyping, designing a plastic case.....

Re: Opentherm Gateway

stupid question maybe, but im checking your schematic, I see a 24VDC supply, however the trafo is only 15 VAC? Any plans on releasing an Ethernet version?

Re: Hardware running on .Net Micro Framework

I used the wrong word :-) What type of transmitter are you using, and did you create your boards yourself?
I would like to create some standards for .NET because there seem to be hardly any for HA and .NET It's already difficult to find some code for humidity sensors.

Re: Hardware running on .Net Micro Framework

Erisan, which sensor are you using and what is the range that you are getting? I'd love to use Ethernet cabled/wifi all over, but it is just too expensive.

I like .NET because the debugging is great compared to any of the other available hardware. Besides im writing my whole HA in .NET :-)

Re: Hardware running on .Net Micro Framework

Hi, I'm very interested in this, and have been looking at this lately both the Netduino and GHI. For GHI I find the cerberus quite interesting, however the gadgeteer modules themselves are quite expensive, but the breakout boards will help in using standard sensors to be connected to the gadgeteer s...

Re: [Animo Check] Smart metering readout hardware (P1 port)

I'm interested as well, I have a smart meter with P1 port (RJ11) and wireless gas meter connected. My prefered solution would be Ethernet, i would not need local storage.

Re: My home automation project / software

Hi Airox, I'm interested in your Jeenode for motion, light and temperature. What do you use for the sensors? 1-Wire? Do you think you could share with the community to make a standard sensor out it with documented protocol? I have pretty much to no electronics knowledge, but am fine making the softw...
