If you run a recent Linux version on a processor with built-in virtualization support (as all recent Intel and AMD procs do), you can use KVM. It comes with the Linux kernel and can run any guest OS. Works very well.

Did you make sure the lamp module and the CM15 are connected to the same phase?

Why would you want to convert it to serial? Doesn't your PC have USB ports? Linux comes with support for USB and if I'm not mistaken, both Maarten's demo code and Domotiga support Plugwise on USB.

Xpl-perl works fine with the RFXCom LAN receiver. I use it for RFXMeter, RFXPower and Visonic decoding and it does that just fine (although it does bend the rules of XPL a little bit). Eerste resultaten: het ding zuigt aardig wat stof op, maar qua route lijkt hij niet heel efficient.
