As dead as a doornail
Couple of things you could try: Do you have the problem: 1) when you put the CTX35 inside the Circle+ (so that the Circle+ is not empty)? 2) when you put something else in the Circle+ (a light or so, so that the Circle+ is not empty)? 3) when you swap the CTX and the Circle+ (so that the power cord ...

Plugwise and Linux
My experiences with USB and VMware are not always that good, so I hope the plugwise dongle works 'properly'. This was pretty much my question: does the dongle work in vmware? I agree that understanding the plugwise protocol (to be able to make your own driver) is much better than having to use their...

Plugwise and Linux
I am considering adding Plugwise to my home automation system. The current parts (combination of self-made drivers and xpl-perl) run on my Linux server. Since the server also acts as firewall, router, storage-server, etc., I really don't want to replace it with windows. And because the main advantag...

KNX (EIB)
Open standards are nice, but if vendors interpret them differently, devices may still not interoperate correctly. But again, I have no idea if this is the case for KNX devices. It would be good if forum members with KNX experience would speak up here (and if we don't have any: it would be good if we...

See for example http://www.crn.com/digital-home/189501090 for a comparison of ZWave <-> ZigBee.

KNX (EIB)
I thought that KNX was an open protocol and I assumed that devices from multiple vendors would interoperate (much like X10 devices). But then again, I have no experience with this equipment.

KNX (EIB)
I think the main reason for not using KNX is because it is hard to build it into existing houses (without creating a whole lot of mess). Both X10 and wireless have their potential reliability issues, although they are not so bad in practice. In case you are building a new house and you have the choi...

Command examples CTX35 / DAIX12
Aurelia, If I understand correctly you use the CM15 to send the DIM signals, and you use the PMIX to capture THOSE signals right? In that case you should be aware that the CM15 is (as far as I know) not capable of sending extended commands (unlike the CTX35/PMIX35). So it is expected that you would ...

Sorry, my mistake. The '[' and ']' symbols are really part of the string. So the proper string (for CTX35) would have been: $>28001A[1]011D31C1# To get A1 to 45%. For A13 it would have been $>28001A[1]131D31C4# These strings I have actually tested so they should work. Regards and good luck, PP
