Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

That's great to read Bwired! Could describe why you want to set another TT? Is it something like: let's raise the temperature 0.5 degC above program. Wait sometime. Mmm, still too cold let's raise the temp another 0.5 degC. If the program/device forgot that a previous TT had been set. Isn't this det...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

Now that setting TT works, I'll test some other scenarios as well: Override temperature via TT and wait till next program change and program setting resumes. Then issue a new TT. Check if that gets accepted and program will resume after program change Override temperature via TT. Manually resume pro...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

The beta/test firmware, with the special bitmask, does seem to solve the problem on the iSense. I've managed to let the iSense continue the program after an override. Last night the tests were inclusive because of the the resets (The resets are not caused by the firmware but is a local problem) Use ...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@hvxl, thanks. I've downloaded the firmware. Will apply it shortly, next program change is at 2230h. Current setpoint is stable, I'll raise the setpoint by 0.5 degrees. Before the update some stats from the last three days: error 01 39 error 02 4 error 03 3373 error 04 2 Update applied. Firmware app...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@digit, Time, that's a very scarce resource indeed. Most of our thermostats do their work well and as advertised. But the unadvertised features ( as possible in the OpenTherm specs) don't live up to the expectations. My frustration is that devices are fixed for life. Unless an advertised feature is ...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

Digit, perhaps you should consider building your own thermostat/controller. You've got most of the building blocks already present. You could build your own controller by using the OTG to send commands to your boiler and a JeeNode or SimpleCortex as controller. Or buy a commercial gui-less thermosta...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

I'll capture a longer trace tomorrow, to determine how to deviation develops over a longer period. And post the results. Regarding the firmware, why did you keep the override state when switching to monitor mode? I'm not implying that's a bug just curious for the design decision. Looking forward to ...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

Let me try to be more specific and answer your questions Did you wait for the setpoint to be picked up and that took only 30 seconds, or did you just wait 30 seconds without checking the setpoint? Normally the override setpoint message seems to appear only once ever 40 seconds. It then usually takes...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@hvxl, I just want to keep a controlled test setup. You gave instructions to raise VR to 5 so I did. I'm not going to mess around while testing unless instructed. Regarding my hypothesis on the bit flags. Perhaps what I didn't tell, but figured was obvious, is that perhaps the iSense has an incorrec...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@bwired, apart from the ill implemented remote temperature setpoint on the iSense. What really bugs me is that your iSense doesn't reset. I've got an iSense v19 and a Quinta Pro with a very recent mainboard (2 months old). My iSense is some 11 mtrs away from the OTG. You've got an iSense v23 and a C...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@digit, it's the same we're talking about. The possibility to heat up your room to 90C would lethal. As wrote before I never saw it because the recom interface only works since a few weeks and I do not log that variable. Before I only measured water temperatures. I'm only interested in heat output, ...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@hvxl, When setting TC MsgID 100 is set to 0000 0001 and setting TT sets MsgID 100 to 0000 0011. Both bits are now set which according to the documentation should give priority to a program change and/or manual change. So yes the OTG adheres to the specs. But could I ask you to make a special build ...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@digit, I hardly ever manually set the temperature and before I got the Recom interface working it was very difficult to visualize these low-level control mechanisms. The swing to 90 degrees doesn't happen if I increase the temperature by only 0.5 degrees the control point isn't raised to 90 degrees...

Re: Overriding temperature setpoint with OTG and iSense

@hvxl, thank you for your analysis and explanation. Regarding the resets. The gateway is experiencing fewer WDT reset's. The comparator voltage is currently set at VR=5, after I tried 4. Most off the time I could read the line "Thermostat disconnected" so changing VR did change something! ...

Re: What am I missing???

@sdspieg Before anybody starts commenting about the HoneyWell EvoHome system, I'm aware off its existence but I excluded it beause of its proprietary protocol and closed nature. Topic starter wants such a system but with full control and open by design. I think it's a great idea and I allways like c...
