Help with Python to parse data in database

I have a small linux server in my "meterkast" and am reading the serial port using a small python program. I'm not a python expert, but I managed to "readline()" and get the data in, but I could use some help with parsing that data and inserting it into a database...

You should definitely ask your gridoperator (ie Stedin) to give you access to the P1 port of your smart meter. The free accessibility of the P1 is one of the requirements in the NTA8130 definition. Same here.... looking for this FTDI cable but all (online) shops only sell to businesses... L+G DSMR 2.2+ (it's the Xemex module "inside" the L+G meter providing the P1, and P2 and P3) and Flonidan G4SRV. Thanks, Alaska EDIT: Looks like the cable is available here: http://www.antratek.nl/U...
