Re: Reading the IR port of an IEC 62056-21 Smart Meter

Hi logger2,

there are different type of meters in the world ;).
Some of them send the Data without request and some would like to get a request for the Data.
What is the name/type of your meter?

Hi,

is it a typo? 6000<\r><\n> ? You have to send <6>000<\r><\n>
Did you try http://www.meter-test-equipment.com/dow ... 07pack.exe ?

Maybe you (udo) are the designer of this head? What are the improvements of the new version? Happy new year to you too. Yes, I'm the designer. The new version has increased receiver sensitivity and the components are cheaper. Fine that its working now for you. After the start message: <---10 49 01 ...

Re: Reading the IR port of an IEC 62056-21 Smart Meter

and that not my hardware is faulty? Hi Jeroen, For a first test you should keep your ir-head 1-2 cm over a white surface. Then, with Hterm or another serial client, send a few characters, this should then be displayed again in Hterm. Use the baudrate you have to use for your meter. If so, your ir-h...

The schematic and board I used is: http://wiki.volkszaehler.org/hardware/c ... b-lesekopf all components are the same except R2 2.2K instead of 2.4K (no stock). Hi, I do not know if at that time the new circuit was already online. There is a better version of the IR-head: http://wiki.volkszaehler.o...

Re: Reading the ZIV METERING 5CTDE1F Meter (IEC 62056-21)

Hi, Do you think I'll be capable of reading the data? Yes, you can... ;) BTW the cable they sell is very expensive (about 200 euros) maybe anyone have an schematic? What do you mean with "cable"? If you want to read out the data of the meter, you have to use the ir-port. Thats the two LEDs...

Re: Reading the IR port of an IEC 62056-21 Smart Meter

My guess is there is something wrong with either your computer COM port or the connected IR probe. Did you confirm you are using the latest drivers (for the IR probe/COM port)? Or have you already tried adjusting COM port settings, like enabling or disabling FIFO, I/O buffer size etc? Perhaps the I...
