What else can I check?
Correct. But are you pointing to the correct pin 13? And ofcourse are you sure you have the correct password in your copy/paste buffer?

Pin 1 is on the top left, Pin 2 on the top right, pin 3 under Pin 1 and so on?

Correct. So the pins you need are the last two on the bottom and the one row above on the left side.

Seems everything is connected correctly, the password is correct (corresponding to the software version), but still...... keeps booting after pasting the password......

Just to be sure, can you post a photo of your wires connected to the toon? And the boot screen where the boot version is shown?

You are connected to the correct pins. However, I was not expecting two extra wires. Most TTL adapters have 4 wires (tx, rx, gnd and 3.3v). What ttl adapter are you using and are you sure those are the tx and rx from the adapter?

It looks you have a PL2303, most of time this one is 5v
You need 3v3.

Try at you're own risk this one:

Black wire is GND, connect this one on GnD from Toon.
Green wire is TXD, connect this one on RxD from Toon.
White wire is RxD, connect this one on TxD from Toon.

Can you put the password now in?

It is a USB to TTL converter with a FTDI chipset.
6 wires:
1. Yellow: RTS
2. Black: GND
3. Blue: CTS
4. Green: TXD
5. Red: 5v
6. White: RXD

Where did you buy this? Are you sure it is 3.3v (as the red power is putting 5v my guess is that your TX is also on 5V)?

By the way, you are posting this in the automated rooting script topic... you are using the manual way. :-) My guess is that your cable is wrong, or now with 5v you might have broken the UART on the toon (requering 3.3v).

Rooted my Toon a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to say the automated script is awesome.
I only had some issues with installing OpenOCD on the Raspberry Pi though, I ended up installing it the way described here, after that, it worked as a charm!

What is 'best practice' for using the rooting script?

Should I reset my toon to factory settings before rooting or afterwards? Do I need to setup wifi before using the script (i guess not...)

Do I loose the activation by resetting it, or is that fixed again by using the stript?
