Toon screen not responding

Post by BrainHunt »

Hi,

On my Toon2 with firmware 5.04, I recently noticed that the screen is behaving strange:
- if the screen is in sleep or in dark mode, it does turn on if I touch the screen
- however if the screen is active, it doesn't respond to selecting tiles or any other touches (e.g. selecting menu and so)

Rebooting did fix it for the short term but after not using it for multiple days, the above happens again. Apart from that, everything is still working great (showing everyting, rotating through the tiles with the setting from Toonz, running the heating program, etc.).

Any thoughts?

Check your diskspace on your toon. Maybe something is clogging the disk? Or maybe memory usage?

Check diskspace with "df -h" and your memory with '"free". Most of the time it is memory on a toon1 which is bugging you. You can, from firmware 4.16 and further, disable some native unused toon features using the TSC menu which frees some memory.

Running on 5.0.4 and disabled all native Toon features.
Rebooted the Toon several times, but still slow on screen responces.
I’ll check the disk space and memory shortly

Firmware 5.0.4 is a slower than the previous firmware.
Running on 5.0.4 and disabled all native Toon features. Running apps: toonstore, boilerstatus, buienradar and calendar.

df -h

Can I free up space by deleting some backup resource files? Currently I have the following files:

resources-static-base.bak
resources-static-base.rcc
resources-static-base.rcc.backup
resources-static-ebl.bak
resources-static-ebl.rcc
resources-static-ebl.rcc.backup

Do not remove these files. Disk space is not the problem. Available RAM is a problem on Toon 1.
I also noticed in 5.0.4 on my Toon 1 that it takes a bit of time to wake up from dim state.
After that the response is good on my Toon.

To make clear, I only meant to delete (two of) these files.

resources-static-base.bak
resources-static-base.rcc.backup
resources-static-ebl.bak
resources-static-ebl.rcc.backup

Exactly that.

The backup files can be removed but that will not solve the performance issue ;-)
