Hi Uriel

I am currently running the Velbus components below, but have more on the way.

VMB8PB Velbus 8 Channel Push Button Module
VMB1RY Velbus Relay Module
VMB1USB Velbus USB Interface
VMB3PS Velbus Power Supply
VMB6IN Velbus 6 Channel Input Module

The software is running on a 5 year old PII Dell desktop with 512 Mb of ram, runs better on a more modern PC if you have one.

I have added a Velleman light sensor switch to detect dusk and dawn also, part no. MK125.

I have some 12volt hard wired motion sensors, powered from the 12 volt transformer and a 12 volt smoke detector also powered from the transformer. Both working very well.

Andrew,

Thanks for your input, I will first start ordering some components and see what they can do for me.

@Uriel

I currently have
1 VMB4RY
1 VMB1USB
1 VMB1DM

I just ordered:
2 VMB2BL
2 VMB1DM
1 VMB8PD

My project is still in the early stages and you can't compare it with the work Andrew has already done. I still have to go a long way and I don't know if I will ever get that far [:D] Also my intention is not to create a touchscreen interface.

@andrew. Can you explain what the functional difference between the VMB8PD and VMB6IN is? I guess they are both input modules, only with a different casing

Jeffke, the VMB8PB (assume you meant PB and not PD) is a small (25mm Square) push button circuit board that can be mounted anywhere remote from the rest of the equipment, i am putting it beside the bed, with 8 function buttons i can use it to switch all the lights off at night from my bed, or to put them all on is my wife hears a noise she is unhappy with, one will also act as a panic button beside the bed.

The VMB6IN is a din rail mounted version of the same unit but with 6 inputs not 8, this is where all my alarm sensors and smoke sensors a re wired back to.

Good luck

Hi All,

How are the velbus projects coming along? I think a separate forum would speed up the progress! :)
This velbus system looks very interesting.

Another quick question: has anyone got this working on a Linux box? (custom Driver code)
