i also have the USB - RS485 - WE - 1800 - BT connector, but i am not able to connect to the rs485 transmitter.
When i try to connect with the somfy demo tool, i always get the error message (after i´ve chosen the correct and recognized com port) "no node on this port".

i connected the black one to ground, the yellow to the + and the orange to the - accordingly to the manual.

i used following connection settings of the com port:
Bits per second: 4800
Data bits: 8
Parity: Odd
Stop bits: 1
flow control: Xon/off and also hardware

Can you please tell me how you were connection the usb rs485 plug to the transmitter?

is what you bought , the same as Hexin HXSP-2108F: USB to RS 485, i only have got the transmitter working with this one. as you have read in this thread not all usb rs485 connectors work with somfy .

ok, thanks for response.
But the strange thing is, that exactly the mentioned USB RS485 connector, mentioned in my previous post, is shown on the pdf from somfy for the RS485 gateway...

Anyway, i´ve ordered now the Hexin connector...hopefully it works

BTW, there is also no support at all from somfy austria about this rs485 gateway...i had to really push them to provide me at least the partnumber and ordering conditions for the gateway...

here in the netherlands the same where hard to get the necessary info from somfy, but all info is on this forum. Only in England it seems no problem according to hiddenwires.

you mentioned in one of your initial posts in this thread, that the + needs to be connected with the -.

Can you please do me a favour and post the exact cabling scheme (there is r+ and t+...)

sorry to bother you again, but i can´t get this bloody interface working...

I have just received the hexin converter and connected it to the somfy transmitter, but i still get this "no node on this port" message with the somfy demo tool.
I am really becoming desperated...

Have you tried to control your blinds with the demo tool as well?
If not, how did you connect to the rts transmitter?

How did you test the connection to the rs485 transmitter?
Did you use a special terminal program and how can be checked, if there is a connection at all (i.e. something similar like at commands)?

first no flowcontrol !!


your wiring is correct , the demotool works, only i have on my windows 7 computer the following comportsettings: 9600 8 none 1 and no flow control. i think the demo tool changes these values

seems odd but the demotools works with these numbers. he gets my node id. first no flwocontrol !

http://www.hw-group.com/products/hercules/index_en.html is the terminal program with which i made my first contact with the somfy transmitter, use tab serial fill in the somfy comspecs with no flowcontrol . handshake no mode free

send hex command .(check the checkbox )and you should get a response in hex

"the are you there "command is in hex :

BF74FA010000000000022E (ie: getnodeadress of somfy device, could also obtain nodeadresses of othersomfydevices)

the answer is also in hex .

if this doesnt work change +/- wires nothing bad happens

thanks a lot for your patience, but i don´t get a connection to the transmitter...
What do you mean with "did you try the dct locks to see if the transmitter works?

Which functions does this blue hand whell beside the plug have?
If i switch it i.e. to 1, press the programm button on the radiocontrol (until the shade joggles) and then press the button beside the blue hand wheel, the shade also toogles...so i think, the transmitter sends something to the shade.

I tried it also with your mentioned terminal program with many different connection settings (speed, etc)...it simply doesn´t work and there is also no answer from the transmitter...
I really think, that this box is faulty...

i am on vacation i dont have the transmitter at hand. use the somfy port settings in herculus.

I've got my new Somfy RTS RS485 thing connected to a Sollae EZL-200F RS232/RS485 -> Ethernet box.
Works like a charm!
