Ziggo Cable Internet 50MB down 5 up

Post by Bwired »

Ziggo just updated the website with the new cable speeds and the Docsis 3.0 modem.
I think I will trade one traditional ADSL line in for this cable type.
Which one it will be? Xs4all or Telfort?
Any one some experiance with the new speeds and Docsis 3.0 modem?

Yes later this year Ziggo will go up to 80 or 100!
Is the cable modem any good or did you set it to bridged?
If bridged any problems with setting up the voip on another router?

I have connected to Fritzbox..no problem at all
Also the phone part from ziggo modem is connected to Fritzbox.

I hope that the Fritzbox 7270 can handle 50Mb.
I know that the Wan port can't do that (Adsl2)
Since I'm using one of the Lan ports as wan 50 mb should not be a problem..(i hope)
else i I will upgrade it the the new fritz box 7370..later this year availible.

You can't access the modem
Modem is installed as bridge
It will always forward the Internet Ip to the first connected device.
Funny thing is when you connect a single machine to the modem and install Vmware on this machine...all the VM's will get a real Ip address.

Ok that is right it's gets the real IPNR does not matter if that is a Computer. Same here with ADSL if I connect directly a laptop to the modem.
Question: how is the voip handled with ziggo then, a seperate voipmodem?

yep..some problems with connection...
if used correct cables all works well.

To save power and reduce the number of power adapters:
Ziggo modem, Fritzbox, Lava Device server,Belkin USB are connected to one 12 volt adapter of 3,8A
usage is 17 watt

PSTN from Ziggo modem is connected to DSL/Tel with the special Y-cable delivered with Fritzbox

Available output on the FritzBox
2 x PSTN out
1 X ISDN S0 out

4 Lan (when using as rout without ADSL you can configure one of the lan ports as WAN port.)
1 Wan (ADSL 2)
