Foscom Wireless/Wired cam

Post by Alexander »

Does anyone know this camera? http://cgi.ebay.com/Foscam-Brand-Wirele ... 3ca5a43345

It's get my attention because it is referenced many times on the web, but not in this board. Will it be suitable for HSTouch (and stream ofcourse) ?

Hi Alexander !
look here , http://www.futurashop.it/images_la/8100-CP439.JPG , it's exactly the same one. this is my personal italian reseller and i bought two of these cams (with the old chassis and only 6 ir leds). they are from china but work great : pan tilt is fast and sw is good too. it can manage 4 cams togheter. then they are not for outside , but i placed in a plastic sphere to cover from rain and snow and never did stop during winter ! (-10 C.........).
you can find some snapshots in Esteban's repository (i think that internal HW is exactly the same for old and new model), the model of mine is LYIPC-08B and you will find a snapshot of a bird from my garage door.
Ciao Ciao !

Do you by any chance have a night time shot as well? That would be interesting for me...

Night vision is really poor ! in fact i bought a 40 leds device to add on (15 mts range) , but i have not yet installed it. may be the new on with more leds is better. see screenshot , this is an internal garage view and there's some reflection of the metallic door that helps vision otherwise it would be worst.

I have this cam without the foscam logo on it :|
Firmware that was installed on the device is outdated but updatable. Daytime view is decent but nighttime snapshots and video is very blurry. Integrated them in hstouch (as picture output not stream) which works fine. Still looking for a way to connect the video stream (snapshot true netcam plugin works fine) to homeseer so I can use events with it.

For the price I paid for the cam a decent device but nighttime use is not recommended.

Alexander, Foscam.nl is a good shop with good support. You will find the same model but be aware that there are different versions. The latest version switches of the IR leds in daytime for example. I got two of them (with the wide angle lens option') and they produce a decent picture for survailance. Colors are nowhere because of the IR sensitivity, there is no iris so they dymamic range is limited and has to be adjusted in a webinterface.
I have also the outdoor version without the PTZ but somehow it produces a bit better picture. I am not home and I just heard that the model-type number is not on the camera????? so I can´t give you the model numbers.
If you want some still I can grab them from my server if you want, just send me a PM
