Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Hi,
It seems that it needs to be used only by Android app on tablet and smartphone (very interesting product using the Raspberry Pi and Asterisk open source PBX. I need a Windows SIP client to use with it (I want to put in my office to open the door from a PC). Anybody has an idea where I can find it?
PS: I need also the video.
Nice forum!

I think it is quite expensive at 440 dollar http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/novosip

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Expensive? Well actually I don't think it is that expensive if you have a look at the other similar products whose price can go well over 1'000 bucks. I would go ahead and sign up for that Novosip but seeing that no one else has yet is a little worrying.
The one I've looked at which I find great is the DoorBot. I would get one but the idiot designers forgot to put in an RJ45 network plug. The thing only works on Wifi... so that's great if you have a strong wifi signal or if you're only looking to open the main door. But if you want to operate an outside gate, well, forget it if you can't hard wire the LAN in...
How could these guys forget that....????

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Hi all,
Ok, so I'm back 'cause I still haven't found what I've been looking for for months now... I've looked everywhere but there's nothing out there that is IP based (as opposed to the traditional 2 wire system which can only work with it's hard wired monitor), PoE (versus on site powered with a transformer), LAN usable (meaning with like an App or program on an tablet, smartphone or PC).
So as this does not seem to exist, I'm reverting to a more 'traditional' system: audio only, 2 wire, phone connected. At least I know there are a few out there. Speaking of which, does anyone have a suggestion? I've been looking at the Algo 8028 SIP. Anyone have advice on this product?
By the way, how would one connect this sort of intercom onto a typical home system with DSL cable, Internet phone and a LAN?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Nick

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
I you go for tradditional there are several there
http://www.cordless-phones.uk.com/elect ... 0-intercom
http://www.deur-intercom.nl/Siedle-inte ... temen.html
This one is interesting because they sell multiple vendors http://www.deur-intercom.nl/Intercom-video-set.html
I have some expierince with the vendor Siedle because we use it at work, an advantage of siedle is that they support a softphone client (i`m not sure it the also support SIP (voip)
You can also look arround a marktplaats or ebay http://www.marktplaats.nl/z.html?query= ... ption=true that where i found this one http://link.marktplaats.nl/m795786716

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Well I actually already spoke of the Doorbot (scroll up). It's great if you have a strong Wifi signal at your door, but useless if you want to use it for a gate unless you install a Wifi repeater in your gate pillar...
No, what I now want just has to be 2 wire audio and DSL phone compatible. I also need to find out how to wire the system into my existing LAN... if anyone's got some ideas...
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
I found this video and think it is a solution for people already owning a gigaset phone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H32-5h4V_9I
But specific for you it is not easy to give you a solution. Maybe you can sum up you`re needs to see what you really need and what is nice to have.
I think you can do the following
- Connect the button at the gate to a relay board
- Connect the relay to the input on this module so you can speak to who ever is calling http://www.elro.eu/en/products/cat/secu ... ire-system
- Place an outdoor camera with an input contact at the front gate and let is send you an email with pictures of the person at the gate
- Connect another relay to the input of the camera
- Connect another relay to a door contact / k8055 so you domotica software knows therer is someone ring and starts events or trigger to do additional things
I`m using one button on my front door which is connected to a velleman relay board. The relay`s on the board are switching additional inputs on different devices one of them is my old skool doorbell ringer. The other one is an input on a Velleman K8055 to let my domotica software now there is a ring

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Hi Raymon,
Thanks for the link to the Gigaset HC450. At first I got SUPER excited as this seemed to be EXACTLY what i wanted.... Unfortunately, my excitement soon died down:
1. The product is no longer being manufactured by Siemens (Why?? No idea...)
2. I did find a few new units on Ebay but then I found out that the max allowed distance between the outside unit and the DECT controller inside was 15m - The distance to my gate is 80m so that just killed all my hopes...
Your setup sounds good but I really want to find something 'installation ready'. If ever I sell my house one day, I don't want to have to tell the guy this is a McGyver system... (Sorry, no offense intended)
So, here is what I have:
As mentioned, the gate is 80m from my IT bay.
I have one CAT6 (4 pair) cable and one 220VAC cable running from the bay to the gate intercom location.
My IT bay is where all Phone / LAN / Router / Modem lines meet.
The house is cabled with CAT5e and RJ45 plugs which distribute the LAN (or any other signal if need be.
The phone system (a Siemens Gigaset DECT system) comes from the Internet ADSL box and passes trough one specific CAT5e cable (which can be moved around if needed).
Important note: I do not have a pre-wired wall mounted intercom unit and I do not want to have to install one because that would mean having to destroy a wall. Also, I want to be able to move the gate receiver in the house.
I want to operate my new gate motors using the above existing infrastructure and I am looking at 2 options:
1. Audio only
But the system has to either operate on a phone system (like the Siemens Gigaset HC450 Intercom system would have done). Or it needs to be wired from the gate to the a transmitting unit in the house onto wireless handsets.
2. Audio & video
But:
- I need the monitor(s) to be surface mounted (again, I do not want to have to pull wires to a wall mounted unit). I have RJ45 plugs with 220V sockets next to them all over the place and I consider that that should be good enough.
- The gate camera needs to be powered either by PoE or via a pair in the CAT6 cable or, worst case, via a transformer on the 220V line in the gate pillar (but I would prefer not to have to install a transformer on the outside.)
Other options such as GSM to to phone can also be considered but I am not savvy enough to know if that is a good (and/or reliable) option.
Thanks to anyone who has an idea for a solution.

Re: Ethernet based video door bell
IT has been mentioned before on the forum, but I use à normaal analog door intercom with two buttons. Those are easy to find with different amount of buttons. Strong metal housing. That unit gets 12 volts and send analogue signal over Mij cat5 cable. It's hooked up to a linksys PAPT analog to IP converter and connected to my asterisk system. If someone rings the button it dials a given number. In my case a ring group who rings most phones. I can pickup and talk with the visitor. If I dial 55 on the phone it opens the door. ( the unit has a relais for this purpose).
Re: Ethernet based video door bell
Hi Bastiaan,
Thanks for your input.
Can you give links to the products that you have connected and maybe a wiring diagram?
Thanks,
Nick
