[Sold/Verkocht] - Opentherm Gateway with ESP8266 WiFi

Post by rjblake »

As I have now connected my boiler directly, I have little/no use for the OTGW I built in December. It has been connected and running without issue since built. Modifications from the original spec include upgraded transformer, ESP8266 (Adafruit) with ESP-Link. OTGW can be reset from ESP-Link interface (no need to open case or reset button)
Was configured for and working with Domoticz. €70.00+post

how did you achieve this functionality? Can you please post details how to wire ESP8266 together with OTGW to be able to reset it from esp-link?
many thanks in advance.

Very easily. Connect one of the RST pins on the OTGW to a GPIO pin on the ESP8266, configure in ESP-Link that this GPIO is for 'reset' from the web interface and job done. Bear in mind that I was using an Adafruit Huzzah (which is ok with 5V). I connected GPIO5 in my case. If you want to know how to wire an ESP8266 completely to the OTGW, there are a number of write ups already, but I could shed some light. A few changes to components is suggested/required
