The FM4100 looks nice with an external battery. Only problemn is that you have to send your data to a server they host. And have to pay a monthly fee. So thats a no go. Further more this should go in the topic "sales"

No need to use there server. It is possible to get the protocol specs. from me but need to sign an NDA for it.

Pieter can move the topic if he feels its needed. It would have been better if you where able to put your own protocol or custom way on how to send out the gps data to for instance a website.

Agree on that.

We will soon have a VSCP version but then again its VSCP of course, Anyway this thing will be open so you can program your own stuff. Not to say the 3200/4100 is to closed either...

The FM4100 is very cheap for a lot of functionalities, even integration with the Car Can-bus is possible. this is something what is on my wish list as well.
I now handle my tracking and tracing with my mobile phone. But being able to have complet control over the device like sending the data to any server you like is an absolute need!

hello, I'm trying to get some information about the tracker device FM4100 that comes with FMS CAN to receive information directly from the vehicle's computer, my question is could be connected to any vehicle that has computer (toyota Pick Up) not only trucks?
