I have converted my Homeseer PC to VMware it's running on my server.
This on is now for sale

Power usage of this system is less then 30watt
Performance of this machine is also perfect when using as NAS server.
If you are planning to use as NAS then you can better plugin 1 gbit lan PCI interface (I will give you one for free 3Com Gigabit NIC (3C2000))

did you transfer your existing machine to the VM, or did you install everything from sracth?
if you "transfered" it, can you explain how you did it?

I have done the transfer no new install
You can doe this using the freeware tool Converter from Vmware (Previeus name P2V)
All the drivers will be installed automatically
Best is after the convert remove the not used drivers and hardware...like video, lan etc.

Thanks. I'll give it a look.
I was getting worried if my current "Home control PC" (an old PC) would ever fail - and it would be lots of trouble getting a new one completely setup and ready to go (setting up sql, etc. etc. )
The virtual machine is definitely the best option for these things.

Yes this was also one of the reasons that I choice for Vmware.
Only the CTX35 is physically connected to this machine.
Next step is to make this one also virtual using the remote com port option of Rfxcom lan.
