Solar tracking - arduino?

Post by drmacchi »

Hi all, i have just bought one SV14 solar panel against humidity. i create a post for any experiences http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3317 but it looks like that nobody uses that, so i bought it and i will test and post. this new topic is about a linked problem. to increase the solar exposition of the panel i'm planning a solar tracker. there is something ready to use at 230euros , but i found this project with arduino.

I guess keeping an optimal orientation of the panel towards the sun :-)
How much do these panels weigh? You don't only need an arduino but also 2 servo's or motors to move the panels around, and the rest... but it would be fun to make, that's for sure :-)

Are there some problems with the forum? yesterday i did a post, now is missing, and i didn't reach the website until now. BTW, the panel weights 15 kgs, i would like 2 axes. Now i've just found this one. that is RS232 controlled even trough web ! what do you think? i beleive that some Script guru could integrate it in Homeseer!

In short: I3D moved their servers from datacenter WeDare to it's own DC, didn't really go fluently ;)

hallo drmacchi,

Think about a robust unit, because it must ressist agains wind and rain.

Yes, here there's no wind (sadly, no free energy!) , but snow! Any comments about that device and it's connection to pc?
