solarboiler

Post by Harry »

i am busy instaling a solarboiler system on our home, for hot water.
now like i to integrated in homeseer, so i can monitor how mutch energiesavings the system gives me.
as input i thing i use a watermeter and a temp redings of the inlet and outlet temp of teh boiler.

i thing it must be possible to calculate the energie the system produces.

is there someone who has done this??

Hi,

I'm also making a solarboiler with a energie reading system connect to my Gasboiler.
See this topic -> http://www.domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4032 (only in dutch)
Now because you are using a flowmeter in your system you must be reading the flow in this formula.

I'm now bussy to get the formula in HS so i can read the actual kW of the system, but it has failed me unfortunately :-( at this moment.

Update:

have choosen for an system from Nefit (ecosolar 2-110) the in roof system.
also have a agree of the grant (subsidie) i get from SenterNovem

The installation wil have some delay, course of the weather now.
i bit cold to open op the roof ,course it is an in roof system.
the reason i choose for this, is couse it looks mutch nicer once it is installed. :D

now bussy looking what i go to monitor,
the system shows whith an led if the pomp is running.
is there an easy way to get that state into homeseer??
it is only an on/off state, (not an counter).
i am thinking of an 1-wire divice, some ideas :?:

Hi,

I'm using a small omron relay (MY-4) that i whant to read with my new RFXio so i can get the pump running in combination with the temp.
But you can also use a visonic wireless contact or something that you connect to the pump relay so you can read if the pump is running yes or no.

system is installed last month and it is working great.

this is a two collector in roof system.

connected to a 110 ltr boiler , the pump is controled bij a controler SC20.
here you can set a few settings how you will that the pump is acting.
the sc20 is a modulating controler,so it can set the pump in a lower speed, when the temp difference between the collector and the boiler is getting smaller.

the system produces now on a sunny day more heat then we use, perhaps a bigger boiler was the better option for this system.

now thinking how to hook up the system to homeseer.
water meter is installed, but have to buy an extra pulse counter from rfxcom.
temp measurements on the water intake and outlet i have installed, looking stil a way how to measure the boiler temp

stil looking for a way to calculate the production of the system.
i masure the water volume that passes the boiler
and the temp of cold intake
and warm output.

are there more , who try'd this ?

are are there other ways to do this?

Harry,

because you want to read the production of the boiler a question, have you already made a read connection from the flow meter to HS?
And what it the input amount of this flowmeter?

Dieuwert

Harry,

I think you would also want to know the output watertemp at the same time, so you can calculate the gain.

3 other questions:
how many people are in your family/home and average age x * <10 x * >10 and x * > 20
is the 110 liter bopiler sufficient for bathroom usage (hence the ages question)
do you have a bath or only shower?

Bottom line of the question, do you get enough out of it?

we have a 2 person household.
the most warmwater we use after 17.00
we only have a shower, not a bath the, the shower is used twice a day.
we not use electric close in boilers
in the summer months there are day's we only have hot water from sun.and no gasuse for heating the water.
Image
the boiler gives us a better water comfort too.
if i had the choice again i would go for a larger boiler, the boiler is during let say 14.00 hour heated up to 90 degrees and stops.
all becouse we have no water usage during the day

the things i measure is power use (plugwise)
water temps
* cold intake
* hot outlet.
this is done whith 1-wire.
and water use i installed a watermeter whith pulse outlet.
this measure's the volume that run trough the boiler
this pulse outlet is not yet connected to homeseer
my pulse couter is located on the ground floor, and the boiler on the attic.
stil looking how to hook up the water meter to the homeseer pc.

Hi,
That is ok, i'm waiting at this moment for receive a mail.
But i can help you by using this topic.

What do you have already installed in the boiler system that you can read in HS?

I have a solar boiler installed for about 3 years now but there is nothing added to measure the 'opbrengst' of the system so it's still a blank canvas.
This winter i want to build a monitoring system with a Arduino for my solar panels and i want to incooperate the solar boiler in this system too. So you can say i am in the research fase on this one.

What i understand now is that you need temperature measuring of the inlet and outlet and a flow meter in the inlet or outlet. That way you can measure how much water is heated for how many degrees. Right?
Is there also another way to work with because i am not a big fan op partly demontage the system to put in a flowmeter?
