LCD TV Power usage

Post by TANE »

Hi All,

I have an 32" LCD Philips television. (3 years old)
Power usage of this device is 115 watt per hour...Thats not so much.
When using the external input from DVB-C the power usage of the TV is going down to 93 watt
My conclusion is that the internal tuner is using 22 watt

I have done an double check with external meter and PlugWise.

My Samsung DVB-C is using 7,4 watt when the power is on.
When in standby this device is using 6,6 watt

TV + Internal Tuner 115 Watt
TV Extarnal input 93 watt
TV standby (first 15 min) 35 watt
TV standby (after 15 min) < 1
Samsung DVB-C 7,4 watt
Samsung DVB-C standby 6,6 watt

22W sounds a lot for just a TV tuner (there are USB tv tuners running just on USB power: 500mA)
