[Animo check] monitoring solar converters

Post by LittleBit »

Solar panels are becoming popular.
And so will be logging the converters.
A popular converter is the Sunny Boy.
The Sunny Boy has a (closed) RS485 protocol
and you need an additonal SolarLog converter to open the energy info
(I believe even our moderator Pieter had to buy such a unit)
So ...is somebody familiar with the details of this protocol ?
Or is there interest to start reverse engineer this RS485 protocol ?
With best domotica regards,
Digit

Sounds like a nice challenge!
One minor issue though, I don't have a PV system yet...
But if you're in for a win-win situation, that should not be a problem, right?

For a change it would be nice that Littlebit http://www.cer.nl/ CER would help us on this and makes the protocol available to us

btw SMA can use Bluetooth piggybag or a a direct RS485 conection.
I have a Solarlog http://www.solarlog-web.nl/254.html who handles the communication and is able to handle multiple converters
