Visonic car sensing?
Anyone tried this?

idea is simple and sufficient.

thats a good idea
If you have the Rfxcom receiver you only need the Visonic MCT100.

Basicly he says, leave it on all the time the visonic and use the on/off with the key for sending it out, since you still need a function to know the car is "parked indoors" or somewhere else. Is this correct? Its not totally clear to me

Okay...a bit difficult...
MCT100 will send every 15 min okay signal...
In 15 minutes you will know if the car is close to your house.
When there is a communication error..then you know that car is not close to your house.

Can one assume, that when you start the car it makes a contact so it sends out a signal (so then you know that person will go away) and when your parking your car it will send out a signal when you turn of the key from the car (knowing your home)
so when last status is "closed" (ignition on) your away, and with last status "not closed" (ignition turned off) your back. would something like that work?

You will still have the communication errors after 15 min
In Doomotion you can change that to away when there is a communication error
something like:
Value =1 (on)
Value >1 (off)

well the error is not a problem i would think , after its sending the "on" then you know your away and after that if your to far away, wont that "not" give an error simply because its to far away? The mct100 sends it to a receiver, if its too far it wont have an error since the device is sending every 15m not the receiver right?

Visonic will always send the status.
If you are not receiving any status info in 15 min. then you will have an communication error.
I still think that BT is a better option for this.
I have BT on my phone and car
BT adapter will cost you 10 euro
I'm going to download the plug in and see what it will bring.

I agree, the Visonic MCT-100 is not the best way to solve the problem.
I have 2 little circuits which are sending a code every 5 seconds on 310mhz and can be received by the RFXCOM receiver (RFID, sendig code)
It runs on a 9 volt battery for like 2 years and the device is mounted in our cars. If my girly or I are driving in the street toward my home the HA system gets a signal and events can start like opening the curtains behind the frontdoor, putting hall lights on if it is dark etc.
Don't ask me where to get the device, a friend made this for me a while back..............
Check this bwired blog as well http://www.bwired.nl/weblog.asp?id=126
With BT you can reach the same I guess

Pieter,
That device looks good...310mhz..this means we need another receiver for rfxcom.
is this device sending on the same frequency as to cheap RFID?

About the MCT-100: It has two inputs.
Connect the first input (1) to the indoor car light (by using a relay). Most modern cars will turn on that light when you open a door.
Connect the second input (2) to the +12V (also through a relay) that gets switched on/off depending on the ignition.
Now we have four possible options:<ul><li>A): 1: OFF 2: OFF -> Car is in front of the house (or when no status message received, you are away from home)</li><li>B) 1: ON 2: OFF -> Someone opens the door</li><li>C) 1: OFF 2: ON -> Car running. Either with you or a burglar at the driver's seat</li><li>D) 1: ON: 2: ON -> Car running, door open.</li></ul>
The above should not be that hard to create. You will need two relays, two diodes and two fuses (and of course a MCT-100).
Your home-automation software then can do the rest.
Als het niet gerepareerd kan worden dan is het niet kapot!

i think i'll wait for my bluetooth receiver if that does not work then i'll use the mct maybe.
now all i need to make sure is that my gf keeps her bluetooth on, she tends to turn it off (have no clue why)

like my gf will remember to use it, she always rings at the front door instead of using the keys. I did told her that i would leave her standing outside since its really annoying..
