How to tell if they are the locked or unlocked?

Post by DJF3 »

One of the things I would love to know through my HomeSeer application: Are my doors locked or unlocked?

I have the Visonic MCT-302 doorsensors, but that only tells me if the door is open or not.

What would be great? That if I leave the house (for example based on measuring bluetooth availability) and forgot to lock my backdoor I get an SMS message.

The locks are regular (3 star) locks you find in many doors.

Cheers!

DJ,

I had the same idea to build this. Because I running out of time, I never create it, but I investigate a few solutions. This one is in my opinion the best:
Use a "schoot" detection switch. You can connect this switch to the 'aux' input of the MCT-302. Now the MCT-302 detect if the door is opened or close and detects if de door is locked or not.

You can use this kind of "schoot" detection switch:

This is supplier for the Dutch market:

Go to the group '015 - Schakelmateriaal' and then select '001 - Signaleringen'

Thats a good idea.
I was also thinking about something for monitoring. I'm locking the front door via Abus electronic locker.
to be 100% sure the that the lock is one I need something in the locker...
not sure how to use the above device.
