New project and ..... some questions

Post by ErikB »

Hello,

I am new to this forum and rather new to HA, RF and X10. But this forum looks great, contains loads of interesting threads.

About one year ago I bought the Marmitek SC9000 (as a part of the TotalGuard kit) because it supports X10. All sensors are active, remote controls are in use, ... all going well.

Now it is time to expand and add some X10 receivers to control more lights (Marmitek LM12W or AM12W), additional motion detectors (Marmitek DS90).

I would like to have it all controlled by HomeSeer 2, to put some intelligence into the system and to be prepaired for a growing system.

Question: What interface could I use between PC with HS2 and my X10/RF network ?

Thanks in advance !!

Hi Erik
Welcome on this forum!
Your question is been asked many times on this forum and widely discussed. check the Xanura forum here or search on CTX35 or CM11 :-)

For the interface to the powerline use the CTX35 or CM11.
For the X10 RF use the 433.92MHz RFXCOM receiver http://www.rfxcom.com/receivers.htm#80002 and the Homeseer RFXCOM plug-in http://www.rfxcom.com/hsrfxcom.htm

Hi Erik, i have the same system , expanding every month ! i used cm11 on usb , but i had many problems (check my topic about that) , i used a rs232 connection cable and 99% problems solved! but to have a Homeseer system solid rock, i think i'll get a CTX35 or a ACT213 serial interface.
Good job.

did you check the online shops?
http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=92

In the past I did order lot of stuff from
http://www.intellihome.be/nederlands/index.asp

they have no Xanura.
For Rfxcom you can order directly from there website.

I've you're planning on buying Xanura modules (and configuring them), the CTX35 is not an option because it cannot transmit the 'PRG' command. Perhaps a firmware update will be available some time, but given all the extras the PMIX35 offers it would consider it to be the only choice.

Unless of course you like to share the frustration of an unreliable system we all went through here. In that case you buy a CM11 (to replace it with a PMIX35 one year later) ;-)

It's the command Xanura uses to program the new modulse. Basically is a re-used command PD2/PR2. See also this thread:

Thanks for all the input.
Will the PMIX35 work smoothly with all the Marmitek LM12W's and AM12W's ? If so, the first stage of the investment would be some more LM/AM12W triggered by the SC9000 and later on the addition of PMIX35 with HomeSeer2.
