The I-1 domotica project thread
Hi,
As all of you I am also into the domotica and I really love this new hobby
Within this tread I will tell you all about my projects and the progress of it...
All of my projects are explained on my personal BLOG
Below you will find the list of all the projects that I hve done and my future projects planned so far.
- My Devices
- Homeseer 2 (HSPRO) Software that controlls everything
- Measure my Power and create charts out of the results
- Control my Doorlock System with the LoXX ONE (with movie)
- Control my Living Room Curtains with the Harrison Curtain Rails
- Control my Infrared Devices with the IRtrans Mudule
- iPhone interface created with HSTouch (with movie)
I also control my Living Room curtains with Harrison and will update my blog and this post with how this works... and the same goes form my Infrared devices
My future projects:
- Doorbell/Mailbox/Camera project
- RFID trough the the complete house
- Measuring energy with Plugwise of specific devices
Last updated: 30-12-2009 - Added iPhone HSTouch interface

Iwan,
What is the purpose of RFID in the whole house? Do you want tracking the tags or ...?

Re: The I-1 domotica project thread
so you'll carry the tag with you all the time. The tag itself won't do anything but telling the station if it's there and possibly how far from the station.
So as i understand you correctly, you would like this instead of motion detectors or the same purpose.

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
This is a nice option and is on the list for future development.
We already discussed this option it will be a change to do the correct detection en need lot of tunning .
You will need a receiver in every room and always carry your tags with you. Other option go for implanted tags in your body
Since the modules are based on two way communication only one receiver need connection to the HA server

Re: The I-1 domotica project thread
And are you planning to implantaat the RFID chip. Because when you are running naked true the house, you won't have any light. With motion detectors you can go tho the bathroom with light.
Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
Running? Naked?
Lempens: I agree with you, but maybe Iwan has some ideas. I can imagine that the GF has no choice other than to carry a RFID tag with her allways or won't take advantage in the automation in house (light swiching on, music will follow, etc.) and have to turn on any light by hand. On the other hand, maybe he won't mind if the light in the badroom must be turned on by hand.

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
I never run naked in the house heheh
But indeed you have a point the bathroom would be a problem for lights and maybe music without a RFID tag on you ...
But luckly I always take my close out in the bathroom and not way before
Another option would be to leave a motion sensor in the bathroom and like we all still probably have is the physical light switch ...

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
Solutions : Lord Of Rings ! Just create a ring water free with a tag inside !... not for me , i don't like rings , chains. Skin implant ?
Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
Another option for 'room-to-room' that might work more reliably but is, of course, neither cheap, nor quick to install:
Place RFID readers in the floor in front of each door entry. With readers with a decent range you can then use small (cheap) passive tags that you put in all your, and your partner's, (house)shoes and slippers. Used in conjunction with the proper scripting/programming you can then track every person's whereabouts in the house, and have the house respond according to a specific person's location. With this type of setup, running naked through the house is a possibility, as long as you have your slippers or house shoes on

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
Allthough the project sounds interesting from a technical point of view, I still don't get why you prefer RFID location over motion sensors. It adds both the disadvantage having to wear the RFID tag on you at all times (And think of it every time you change cloths) and visitors can profit less from your home automation (or you'd have to work with visitor tags that they most likely forget to give back). Besides, having motion detectors adds the posibility of having some kind of security. Which still is a possibility of course if you only allow tagged burglars to break in .
But seriously: why prefer RFID over Motion sensors (do you have a Con, Pro list or something?)

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
One Con of a motion sensor is it only detects motion, not occupancy.

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
@Tiz:
-Motion detection tells you somebody is in the room.
-RFID tells you who is in the room. (allowing you to trigger events depending on which person is there)

Re: The I-1 domotica project tread
What we need is DNA scanner in every room like in Star Trek
Last year there was a camera plugin for Homeseer with face recognition.
