Make your own RF remote

Post by Alders »

Tired of pointing your remote at the receiver? Use an RF one and a powermid receiver.
However RF ones are scarce and those available are overly complicated and sluggish in response.
So I was looking for an alternative. It turns out to be easy.

Buy yourselves an TX-SAW MID/3V transmitter.
Connect an 18 cm wire to the antenna connector.
Open your IR remote and locate the transistor that drives the IR output.
Find the location of the transistor base. Remove the transistor. Connect the input of the transmitter point that was connected to the base.
Connect the power supply to the battery connection points.
Find a space within the remote to store the transmitter and route the antenna wire inside the remote housing.
Hook up the Powermid to the iR equipment.

And Voila!
