Automated recycle bin

I just started automating my recycle bin.

Nice work!
Jeenodes are cheap, the kit is very easy to make and with the Arduino IDE it's comfortable coding...
I am thinking of putting a light and temperature sensor in the fridge.
The only thing i am wondering is if RF will get out...

I think battery ife is more a consern because the tend to perform badly at low temperatures.

Why note extend the connection between the sensors and you JeeNodes using a wire and place the JeeNodes outside the refrigerator?
