Radiator control with x10

Post by beverzz »

Hi there,

Let me first point out that I have searched this forum but I couldn't find any useful information.

Lately I have been busy with domotica/home automation. Basicly I connected my livingroom lamps to a x10 network. Through a selfmade iPad app i've I can controll the lights.

The next step is connecting my livingroom radiator to my x10 networking. Unfortunately my house doesn't have a central thermostaat. In my house all radiators have to be turned on seperatly. My question is: is there any x10 radiator solution?

Thank you all in advanced.

Regards,
Bart

Bart, do you mean you're using district heating at your place? District heating a.k.a. Stadsverwarming.
I'm not familiar with x10, so I can't help you with that. But perhaps there is a nice heat control system for x10.
If you can't find a x10 solution, you might want to check the fs20 section for the FHT solution.

Hi jrkalf,

It's not stadsverwarming. I live in an appartment which has radiators in every room, but no thermostat.
Zwave has a similar solution. Check out: http://www.ezhome.nl/verwarming/thermostaatkranen.html. This is what i mean.

I really can't imagine that x10 has no solution for this.

Thanks you guys.

In my home i use an 230v actuator (fom moeller) connected to a X10 module (SAIX, Xanura) for every radiator. The complete central
heating system (12 radiators) is fitted with this solution.

Homeseer is controlling the radiators and gets the temperature info from sensors in every room.

Works great for already 2 years now.

Agree thats a possibility, but not optimal
- Only On Off no temp settings, readings etc
- Need powerline at every radiator
- Need a box or something to install the Saix12 in

@berverzz: understand that there is not much development anymore on X10, so no new products for years now.

X10 clearly isn't the best for that it seems.

You could check in to the FHT system. A radiator valve, thermostat & a window sensor in a set cost € 69,95.
The thermostats can be coupled with a fhz1x000pc or a CUL device. That's the link to your home-server.

Anybody have a zwave, bidcos or 1wire alternative?

Hee Menno,

Thank you for your information, very helpful.
You are suggesting to combine a radiator actuator with a SAIX12? But since my radiator is situated near a wall socket, is it possible to use a AM12 or LM12?

Where can I buy this Moeller 230v acuator?

Thanks again!

Yes it works with Those devices, saix is internal so for in a socket and is also 2 ways, so status control is available.
AM12 etc has no status control

Am12 is indeed possible.

Just search for Moeller Xcomfort radiator valve on Google.
