Something strange with MS 13

Post by Antoon »

I have something strange with the MS 13 motion sensor.
In the past I changed the battery standard every year.
But now I wait till the sensor is not react anymore and then change the battery.
But I see that after the battery change the dark light sensor is not working anymore.
Now I have 5 sensors here where the dark light is not working anymore.
This looks very strange when you ask me.
Anybody seen this problem,or is there a way to reset the MS 13?

• Laat de <house/on> knop los.

sometimes (often) the MS13 does not hold his previous settings and you need to set them again.

Using normal rechargeable batteries gives a shorter lifetime towards Alkaline batt's (except high capacity rechargeables e.g. 2500 mAh).
Rechargeables have a lower tension (voltage) and a lower internal resistance.
Using the MS13 at low temperatures (e.g. outsite the door in winter) gives even a shorter lifetime of batt's.
The MS13 has neither a batterie indicator nor heartbeat to indicate that it remains active.
After replacing batteries the first 30 sec the MS13 does not see motion.
And after a transmission (motion) it takes 10 sec before new motion is detected.

It's good to change MS13 batteries before they are empty; otherwise they start jamming everything!

Thanks guys, but thats all not the problem.
The problem is that after I put in new battery and program the sensor only the motion sensor works.
So the dusk/dark is not working anymore.

In that case they are all broken or your checks & tests are wrong.

It is not a high quality device the MS13 but It is unlikely that suddenly all five MS13 the light sensor is not functioning .... the older MS13 will go back after changing batteries to the default A1 adres for movement and A2 for dark/light and i assume disabling the dark/light feature .. so reprogramming is required.

I got in my system a standard check on the A1 adress ... if an A1 adress will be received it is either a MS13 or a neighbor playing with A10 ... i 'm not using the A range in my system for this reason Another check on good functioning of the Ms13 is that the system should receive at least within 24 hours a change of a dark/light event if not a message to replace the batteries will be send. This will not work with closed curtains during holiday in that case the test should be disabled.

So recheck your programming procedures like activating the dark/light sensor and be aware in case you are selecting adres like A16 for movement the dark/light will appear on A1 ...

This started to happen to one of mine this morning, it's repeatedly sending its motion code and making it difficult for anything else on 433MHz to get though. I would much rather it just stopped transmitting completely.
