how to record these meters

Post by Woeka »

I would like to start measuring my energy, water and gas usage. However I am not sure how to do it.

I've got this energy meter:

This is how my gas meter look like:

My watermeter

I could not find any solutions for recording a "draaischijfmeter [dutch]. My gasmeter appears to have no reflecting area in any of the numbers and I also could not find any real magnetic area on my watermeter. Does anybody have an idea how to measure any of the above meters?

kind regards

Joris,

This is not 1-Wire but you can use an RFXMeter with an RFXPwr module to measure the power usage,
http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#70087
And 2 RFXPulse modules with a Reflective Optical sensors to measure gas and water usage,
http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#70090
http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#70091

To receive the RFXMeter information you need a 433.92MHz receiver
http://www.rfxcom.com/receivers.htm#80002

And sofware to process the data:
DomotiGa http://www.domoticaforum.eu/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=38
or xPL http://www.xplmonkey.com/rf.html
or HouseBot http://www.cebotics.com/
or Homeseer http://www.homeseer.com/

Bert,

He says he doesn't have any reflective area on the meters.

The watermeter has a reflective zone at the wheel (0.0001), right above the number 66584314.

Yeah, you are right. I must be able to use the CNY70 for detecting a turn of the watermeter.

Are there people who used the CNY70 for the "draaischijfmeter" also? Detecting the black non-reflecting part of the disk?

BTW; you can use a clamp for power measuring [:D]...
