Irobot Roomba 560 vacuum cleaner

Post by Bwired »

I finally got the Roomba 560 Robot vacuum cleaner from http://www.irobotstore.nl (great service there btw)
Wow what a robust device. It has a Open Interface http://www.bwired.nl/images/how/irobot.pdf Infrared and a 2.4Ghz remote.
Now I'm going to integrate it with my Home Automation system.

Check my Dutch weblog as well

Great to read about it, was thinking about one too.
Hope to see a way to connect it to Homeseer soon.
(nice picture too! :-) )

Hi Bastiaan,
My Girlys are fun too, but can't be controlled [:)]
For now I'm thinking about controlling the Roomba 560 by Infrared with the Irtrans. So I think Homeseer is no problem, Chak is using the Irtrans combined with Homeseer.

Right, some small corners are sometimes difficult but overall a very good performance. And under the table between the chairs was no problem. I'm very pleased and the misses also like Erik stated :-)
This night it cleaned the room and this morning I emptied the trashcan and the result was like Wow!
I have a cleaner who is coming once a week and she can do the little corners.
Overall I like the robust device and it has a very high Gadget factor :-)

it also goes underneath my closets, which i normally would not do. Only thing was that she set the timer wrong, because the intial time was faulty. It started cleaning at 02:00.. was pretty scary hearing funny noises downstairs..

Some time ago I lost my Romba.
I was looking for it for some time until I found it back halfway up the curtain :-)

Haha, I wondered about that? So it can happen, the engine combined with the wheels are quit strong!
My Roomba pulled the phone from the table when it got stuck with the powerline :-)

a friend of mine lost his roomba for days! He could just not find it back anywhere in the house, and he was really puzzled about it.

Some weeks later he was laying down on the couch to wach a movie, and he felt something sticking up in his back/a$$.
Guess what it was.. Yes.. The Roomba.. One of his cats must have pulled down the cover stuff underneath the couch, and the Roomba drove itself up into the the couch :-)

Hi all, today during an unattended sunday shopping, my wife forced me to drive in a commercial center where i saw 3 roomba-boxes, after 10 minutes (399, do i buy , don't i buy that ...) one box was in my hands...startup was not good, after 30 minutes charge i got error 5 ! what dam ! it speaks and says error 5, try again recharge 30 min. error 5...... fuc******* , so i googled error 5 and found a trhead about this error "battery pack doesn't get in touch with its electrical contacts" . ok i opened back , pull out the battery. put it inside again and i heard a very pleasant UH OH coming from roomba, it was satisfied ! now it's charging like a charm ready to start Monday jobs.

Thats not a good start!
I have my Roomba running now for almost 4 weeks and I'm very satisfied with it!
One tip: don't leave small things or wires on the floor, the Roomba will eat them :-)
Next is to hook the Roomba up with my Irtrans device.
