Together with Xavi from RooWiFi http://www.roomba-wifi-remote.com/tag/roowifi we created a TCP server which gives notification to a local IPnr Port.
This is running for now smoothly on Bwired, soon i will show the Roomba realtime online.

See also my blog on Bwired.nl http://blog.bwired.nl/?p=676

When the roomba is turned on or stops cleaning you receive below JSON, also there is a JSON hartbeat around every 2 minutes.

{
"roomba": {
"Status": "2 ", 0 Not Charging, 1 Recovery, 2 Charging, 3 Trickle Charging, 4 Waiting, 5 Charging Error
"Cleaning": "0", 1 if doing a cleaning action 0 if not
"Battery": "78", remaining percentatge of Battery
"Temp": "32", temperature in Celsius
"Dirt": "0" 0 if no dirt detected or 1 if yes
}
}

Its possible ro also send the Roomba commands via the tcp connection or via HTTP

http:// Roomba_Wifi_Remote_IP /roomba.cgi?button=CLEAN
http:// Roomba_Wifi_Remote_IP /roomba.cgi?button=SPOT
http:// Roomba_Wifi_Remote_IP/roomba.cgi?button=DOCK

The green and black cover are printed with a 3D printer

Drats, you beat me too it Pieter.
I was already mailing with Xavier as well to get me one :mrgreen:

Seeing this, YES, i'm going for his version and not the one from cyberhuis.
I've taken a look at his manual and yeah, it contains all I need or want to know.

RooWifi.

:-)
we are testing now and Xavi will update the firmware with my findings and some extra options (Digit will test next week too), so wait for this I suggest, then you a better version.
Agree, the roowifi will be perfect for controlling the roomba, till now i like it a lot.

As long as the RooWifi is firmware upgradable (good point, the only thing I didn't check with him) I'll be fine.
All json information in his documentation and the 3 ajax commands are all I need for implementation on the Fibaro HC2.

thnx for the pointers.

i must say that the connection is stable now.
i removed the cover, the pcb is not so hot anymore, probably a heat problem

Same here getting warm, this will be solved in next tranche i thought
Connection here is good, you have to be carefull regarding getting stuck under furniture.
Im still busy with Roowifi regarding the tcp adjustments in the firmware, not sure which version you have now.
I would suggest other to wait ordering until the firmware is tcp ready (if you want to use that)
This will take a couple days from now, almost done.

Hello Akatar and everybody!

I send you an email talking about it because was the first time that it happens: I detected an issue in some units of last production, it’s strange because anybody told me, maybe only part of this production has this issue:

After one day working and testing: The assembler has a mistake on mounting a capacitor that allows to manage better the temperature, with a diferent capacitor (less capacitance) the temperature of voltage regulator rises up to much and stops working because over-temperature detection is enabled.

Excuses because we test every RooWifi before shipping but not for an extended time to detect this bug. As I told is the first time that it happens and we want to talk seriously with the assembler and find the best way to verify it when the board is assembled.

Kind regards!

1. Is the (green/black) cover included in when you order the RooWifi?

2. How much height does the RooWifi add?
