Roomba control true homeseer

Post by chilwd »

Bought a Roomba 530 vacuum cleaner this weekend and tried to control it through homeseer. Checked this forum and many others (irtrans, homeseer etc.) to get me started but did not find much info. Found the Roomba pronto codes (see below) but sending these with irtrans doesn't seem to work. Homeseer irtrans page can only "learn" IR codes but does not accept copy-paste codes. Putting the copy-paste code in an event-action ("infrared action") does not seem to work either. I'm about to buy a Roomba IR remote in the hope to let homeseer "learn" the correct codes but I'm not even sure if that will work either.

Is there anyone who managed to control a Roomba through homeseer who would be so kind to share his/her experiences? Tnx for your help guys!

P.s. Roomba works absolutely great! (laminaat floor)

You can manually edit the codes in this directory: C:\Program Files\IRTrans\remotes\hs2_signals.rem

And also, i think the "dock" does not always work. I have that different remote which has the dock function, however i got reports it didn't work but you can search the forum though.

Tnx for your help guys!

I'm mainly focusing on trying to use the "clean" button. Tried to edit the hs2_signals.rem file with no success (tnx for the tip!). Am I adding it correctly? (see below, position 12, CCF normally isn't used here). Anyone had any success controlling Roomba through homeseer?

You can also check on the homeseer forum/itrans forum perhaps. Surely somebody did it before you too :)

Here's my Roomba 563 rem file. Clean works, dock doesn't. I stopped searching for a dock that does work, since the need for it is too low to spend much time on.

Tnx for your help guys! Tried Digit his file and checked out homeseer and irtrans forum but sadly enough still no homeseer control. Seems like IR control is not done that much. Think I will buy the Roomba IR remote. If I find another solution I'll post here for future reference.

I use the ASCI Interface of IRTrans, maybe Homeseer does it a different way?

How do you put irtrans in ASCI mode/interface? Checked the manual but I guess I must be overlooking something. I have an Irtrans ethernet (LAN) module with latest driver from irtrans site running on a Win 7 system. Tnx again for your help!

Do you have a document called "IRTrans TCP ASCII Schnittstelle_DE.pdf" (I see now I missed an I).
It shipped with the IRTrans IIRC, or maybe you can find on the IRTrans website.
This document explains it all.

I read the "IRTrans TCP ASCII Interface_EN.pdf" file but can't figure out how to:
Open port TCP/21000 of the irserver / IRTrans module
send Send 4 Bytes „ASCI to the open connection
I.o. how/where do I give the ./irclient localhost command? After that: how/where do I give the Asnd <remote>,<command>,[l<led>],[b<bus>],[m<mask>] command? (don't have an command interface option in Irtrans for this, command true browser or "run" does not work). I must be overlooking something simple but can't seem to find out what it is..

You have to know that I use my own software.
That's why I said "I use the ASCI Interface of IRTrans, maybe Homeseer does it a different way?" as probable cause that you can't use my .rem file. That would surprise me, but you never know. So I open port 21000 from my own software and send these Asnd commands. Maybe that clears up things a bit.

I have no problems...
Did you try with or without Homeseer?
You could also try the irtranstray tool (part of IRTrans), handy litle tool to quickly test IR codes.

Yes thats whay I did, used the GUI tool to directly run from the .REM file.
Commands show up, LED's flicker but Roomba keeps silently looking at me :-)
